Cassandra Brookins, 53, came to our partner, the Center for Independent Living, in October 2020, with the hope of receiving some assistance for her to gain back some of the independence that she has lost. Ms. Brookins is paralyzed from the waist down and heavily relies on the assistance of her nurse caretakers for many of her daily life activities. CIL had the pleasure of delivering a safe, reliable and sturdy wheelchair graciously donated by the Chair the Love Foundation, to Cassandra. While Cassandra will still require some assistance from her caretakers, she can smile knowing that her journey to a more independent life has started.
